Globe for Strolling

00:03:12 2005

Physical encumbrances and tricky responsibilities are encountered in Sarah crowEST’s video of a bubble headed creature and her recalcitrant offspring. Drawing on the Sculpture for Strolling work of the Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto, crowEST’s Globe for strolling incorporates absurd tensions as a constructed ball of paper is counterweighted during their ‘walk’ by the donning of an equally large spherical head. The casual documentation of their wind-blown adventure enjoys a kind of silliness, a goofy, sweet and alien energy that underscores the prickly intimacies of our relationships with the self and others.
